The safest countries for international students

A recent survey carried out by the British Council showed that among respondents in over 80 countries Britain, Canada, Germany, New Zealand and Singapore are considered to be the safest destinations.
The other end of the scale is led by Israel, followed by South Africa, India and Brazil, where human rights violations and high street crime rates make them less friendly.
The United States was simultaneously considered to be the third most and least safe destination. This dichotomy was the result of the perception that, on the one hand, this country has very lax firearm laws, high street crime and much discrimination, and on the other, that the police is effective to mitigate these aspects.
