Throughout my time working with students who pursued academic experiences overseas, I came across a significant number of very diverse experiences in terms of use of money: from students who spent all their resources in the first of their 6 month exchange, to those who had a fantastic and complete experience with a fraction of the monthly living budget estimated by the host university.
Since I was always fascinated by these contrasts –and everything in between-, I started gathering data about what my students spent per month in different destinations. Also, I started collecting tips on how to make the best use of money during an international experience, recommendations that I will share with you over the next few posts.
